LITTLE ROCK (May 6, 2014) – The REALTORS® Relief Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing house-related assistance to survivors of disasters declared at the federal, state or local levels of the U.S. and its territories, generously donated $100,000 to Hearts and Homes of Arkansas, Inc. for their disaster relief efforts after the April 28th tornadoes that tore across Arkansas. Hearts and Homes of Arkansas, Inc., the charitable arm of the Arkansas REALTORS® Association, was established in 2009 to help Arkansans who have lost their home, office, their ability to pay for their livelihood through a natural disaster or other catastrophic event.
The REALTORS® Relief Foundation, the charitable arm of the National Association of REALTORS®, was first formed in response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 with a single goal—to help surviving family members of 9/11 victims pay their mortgage or rent for a defined period so no family would lost its home as a result of the attacks. Since their inception, they have built a legacy of bringing help home in times of disaster. Thanks to the heartfelt generosity of REALTORS®, member associations and many others, families in more than 40 disasters have been aided with over $25 Million in emergency housing assistance. Within days of a tornado, hurricane, or other major disaster, the Foundation stands ready to quickly lend its support.
Hearts and Homes of Arkansas, Inc. also received substantial donations from the Florida REALTORS® and the Kansas Association of REALTORS®. Florida REALTORS® gave $25,000 and the Kansas Association of REALTORS® gave $2,000 to Hearts and Homes of Arkansas, Inc. Hearts and Homes of Arkansas, Inc., along with the Arkansas REALTORS® Association would like to sincerely thank the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, Florida REALTORS®, and the Kansas Association of REALTORS® for coming to the aid of Arkansans is such a big way.
“We are overwhelmed at the kindness and generosity that these REALTOR® Associations and the REALTORS® Relief Foundation has shown towards Arkansans. The news of their donations brought tears to many eyes. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts and so will the recipients of the grants.” Bob Dodson, Chairman of the Hearts and Homes of Arkansas, Inc. Board of Directors.
